I am a senior academic interested in exploring ways of supporting students on both pre- and post-qualifying Physiotherapy and other Healthcare professions programmes to prepare for what seem to be increasingly uncertain futures. Global health sector challenges require that we prepare students not only to be fit for practice, but they also need to be proactive and resilient to lead the professions forward.

After qualifying and working as a physiotherapist in New Zealand, I have worked internationally as a clinician and academic.  I have experience in collaborative and franchised Physiotherapy programmes with international providers. From this I have learned the value of exploring different ways of working and appreciate the multitude of solutions available to those with an informed critical perspective and good communication and networking skills.

As Programme leader for the MSc Advanced Physiotherapy Practice, I enjoy meeting Physiotherapists who have qualified outside of the UK and welcoming them to our campus as learners planning to advance their practice in an international healthcare setting. This programme leader role gives me the opportunity to learn from students’ own diverse experiences as they learn with us here at QMU.  I also take a leading role in our online learning for physiotherapists on our Advancing Professional Practice Framework.
